The courtyard of the Pine cone
The courtyard takes its name from the enormous bronze pine cone, situated on double flight
Stairs in front of the nicchiane laid down on a large capital with the crowning of a triumphant athlete. The pine code, Roman work, found by The Baths of Agrippa, probably decorated a fountain.
On its sides there are the copies of two bronze peacocks that are thought coming from the Mausoleum of Adriano.
The Cortile Della Pigna together with the one of the Belvedere and of the Library is one of the most important outdoors architectonic spaces of The Vatican Museums.
